My 8 year old cat has been to an emergency vet ($1,000) and now
at her regular vet’s office for almost 3 days on an IV.
I had been told to give her Metacam 0.3ml by mouth for 5 days
and then every other day for 4 days to treat possible inflamation in
her urethra caused by crystals in her urine.
The day after the last dose I found her motionless on the
floor, incontinent of urine. She finally moved her tail a little to
let me know she was alive, but just barely. That’s when I rushed her
to the emergency vet. I was horrified to finally read the Metacam insert to discover that the medicine should only be given mixed with food and NOT directly by mouth as I had been directed to give it. Cyril |
